Keto Diet: Is it use for Weight loss

Keto Diet:

A diet with very low carbohydrates, moderate proteins and high fat food choices is called keto diet. The goal of Keto Diet is to get more calories from fats and proteins instead of carbohydrates.thats why it is used for weight loss.

It is bassically recommended for the patients of epilepsy. In Keto Diet ketones bodies are produced in a body. These ketones bodies increase the production of neuro-inhibitory neurotransmitters such gamma-Aminobutyric acid (GABA) and decrease the production of neuro-stimulatory neurotransmitters such as Glutamate.

Role of Keto diet in weight loss:

Now a days practice of keto diet is very common for weight loss. When a person eat very low carbohydrates the blood sugar level drops in the body. Body starts breakdown of fat to use energy. When body continuously takes fatty foods it will adapted on fat breakdown. Now body starts breakdown of its own fat too. As a result the body weight decreases rapidly.


When a person shift back toward regular diet from keto diet the body weight increases rapidly.

Risks and complications:

It is noticed that long term use of keto diet can have adverse consequences to your health. These includes the increase risk of:

  • Formation of stones in kidney.
  • High level of acid in blood (acidosis)
  • low sugar level in blood

In many cases immediate side effects also occurs which includes:

  • Constipation
  • Sluggishness
  • Hypoglycemia

These symptoms are especially common at the beginning of diet but body adjusted them with the passage of time.
